Subject: Water pollution of rivers and ponds
Sir/Madam,
Through the columns of your esteemed daily I would like to draw the kind attention of the authority concerned to the alarming problem of water pollution of rivers and ponds, which has become a serious matter of concern in recent times. These water bodies are vital for human life, agriculture, and the ecosystem, yet they are being polluted indiscriminately.
The problem has been worsening day by day due to discharge of industrial waste, sewage disposal, dumping of garbage, and use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides. As a result, aquatic life is being destroyed and people are suffering from water-borne diseases. If immediate steps are not taken, the situation is likely to take a more serious turn in future.
It is high time for the government to take drastic and effective steps to control water pollution by enforcing strict laws, treating industrial waste properly, and preventing dumping of waste into rivers and ponds. Moreover, public awareness should be aroused through your editorial so that people become conscious of their duties and responsibilities.

মহাশয়/মহাশয়া,
আপনার সম্মানিত দৈনিক পত্রিকার কলামের মাধ্যমে নদী ও পুকুরের জলদূষণের ভয়াবহ সমস্যার প্রতি সংশ্লিষ্ট কর্তৃপক্ষের দৃষ্টি আকর্ষণ করতে চাই, যা সাম্প্রতিক সময়ে একটি গুরুতর উদ্বেগের কারণ হয়ে দাঁড়িয়েছে। মানবজীবন, কৃষি ও পরিবেশের জন্য অত্যন্ত গুরুত্বপূর্ণ এই জলাশয়গুলি নির্বিচারে দূষিত হয়ে চলেছে।
শিল্পকারখানার বর্জ্য, নিকাশি নর্দমার জল, আবর্জনা নিক্ষেপ এবং রাসায়নিক সার ও কীটনাশকের ব্যবহারের ফলে দিন দিন এই সমস্যা আরও বৃদ্ধি পাচ্ছে। এর ফলে জলজ প্রাণী ধ্বংস হচ্ছে এবং মানুষ বিভিন্ন জলবাহিত রোগে আক্রান্ত হচ্ছে। অবিলম্বে কার্যকর ব্যবস্থা গ্রহণ না করলে ভবিষ্যতে পরিস্থিতি আরও ভয়াবহ হয়ে উঠতে পারে।
অতএব, কঠোর আইন কার্যকর করা, শিল্পবর্জ্যের যথাযথ শোধন এবং নদী ও পুকুরে বর্জ্য নিক্ষেপ বন্ধ করার মাধ্যমে জলদূষণ নিয়ন্ত্রণে আনার জন্য সরকারের পক্ষ থেকে কঠোর ও কার্যকর পদক্ষেপ গ্রহণ করা একান্ত প্রয়োজন। পাশাপাশি, আপনার সম্পাদকীয়ের মাধ্যমে জনসচেতনতা বৃদ্ধি করা উচিত, যাতে মানুষ নিজেদের কর্তব্য ও দায়িত্ব সম্পর্কে সচেতন হয়ে ওঠে।
