Subject: Air pollution in metropolitan cities
Sir/Madam,
Through the columns of your esteemed daily I would like to draw the kind attention of the authority concerned to the alarming problem of air pollution in metropolitan cities, which has become a serious matter of concern in recent times. Rapid urbanisation and industrial growth have severely affected the quality of air, posing a threat to public health.
The problem has been worsening day by day due to excessive vehicular emissions, industrial smoke, construction activities, and burning of fossil fuels. As a result, people are suffering from respiratory diseases, eye irritation, and other serious health problems. Children and elderly people are the worst sufferers. If immediate steps are not taken, the situation is likely to take a more serious turn in future.
It is high time for the government to take drastic and effective steps to control air pollution by enforcing strict emission norms, promoting public transport, and encouraging the use of clean and renewable energy. Moreover, public awareness should be aroused through your editorial so that people become conscious of their duties and responsibilities.

বিষয়: মহানগরগুলিতে বায়ুদূষণ
মহাশয়/মহাশয়া,
আপনার সম্মানিত দৈনিক পত্রিকার কলামের মাধ্যমে মহানগরগুলিতে বায়ুদূষণের ভয়াবহ সমস্যার প্রতি সংশ্লিষ্ট কর্তৃপক্ষের দৃষ্টি আকর্ষণ করতে চাই, যা সাম্প্রতিক সময়ে একটি গুরুতর উদ্বেগের কারণ হয়ে দাঁড়িয়েছে। দ্রুত নগরায়ণ ও শিল্পায়নের ফলে বায়ুর মান মারাত্মকভাবে অবনতি ঘটছে, যা জনস্বাস্থ্যের জন্য বড় হুমকি সৃষ্টি করছে।
অতিরিক্ত যানবাহনের ধোঁয়া, শিল্পকারখানার নির্গত ধোঁয়া, নির্মাণকাজ এবং জীবাশ্ম জ্বালানির ব্যবহার দিন দিন এই সমস্যাকে আরও বাড়িয়ে তুলছে। এর ফলে মানুষ শ্বাসকষ্ট, চোখের জ্বালা এবং নানা গুরুতর রোগে আক্রান্ত হচ্ছে। শিশু ও বয়স্করাই সবচেয়ে বেশি ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত হচ্ছে। অবিলম্বে কার্যকর ব্যবস্থা গ্রহণ না করলে ভবিষ্যতে পরিস্থিতি আরও ভয়াবহ হয়ে উঠতে পারে।
অতএব, কঠোর নির্গমন বিধি কার্যকর করা, গণপরিবহণ ব্যবহারে উৎসাহ দেওয়া এবং পরিচ্ছন্ন ও নবায়নযোগ্য জ্বালানির ব্যবহার বাড়ানোর মাধ্যমে বায়ুদূষণ নিয়ন্ত্রণে আনার জন্য সরকারের পক্ষ থেকে কঠোর ও কার্যকর পদক্ষেপ গ্রহণ করা একান্ত প্রয়োজন। পাশাপাশি, আপনার সম্পাদকীয়ের মাধ্যমে জনসচেতনতা বৃদ্ধি করা উচিত, যাতে মানুষ নিজেদের কর্তব্য ও দায়িত্ব সম্পর্কে সচেতন হয়ে ওঠে।
