Subject: Deforestation and its effects
Sir/Madam,
Through the columns of your esteemed daily I would like to draw the kind attention of the authority concerned to the alarming problem of deforestation and its effects, which has become a serious matter of concern in recent times. Large-scale cutting of trees has disturbed the ecological balance and posed a grave threat to the environment.
The problem has been worsening day by day due to rapid urbanisation, industrial expansion, illegal logging, and clearing of forests for agricultural purposes. As a result, wildlife habitats are being destroyed, climate change is accelerating, and natural disasters like floods and landslides are becoming more frequent. If immediate steps are not taken, the situation is likely to take a more serious turn in future.
It is high time for the government to take drastic and effective steps to check deforestation by enforcing strict forest laws, preventing illegal tree felling, and promoting large-scale afforestation. Moreover, public awareness should be aroused through your editorial so that people become conscious of their duties and responsibilities towards protecting forests.

আপনার সম্মানিত দৈনিক পত্রিকার কলামের মাধ্যমে বননিধন ও তার ভয়াবহ প্রভাবের সমস্যার প্রতি সংশ্লিষ্ট কর্তৃপক্ষের দৃষ্টি আকর্ষণ করতে চাই, যা সাম্প্রতিক সময়ে একটি গুরুতর উদ্বেগের কারণ হয়ে দাঁড়িয়েছে। ব্যাপক হারে গাছ কেটে ফেলার ফলে পরিবেশের ভারসাম্য মারাত্মকভাবে ব্যাহত হচ্ছে।
দ্রুত নগরায়ণ, শিল্প সম্প্রসারণ, অবৈধ গাছ কাটার প্রবণতা এবং কৃষিকাজের জন্য বনভূমি পরিষ্কারের কারণে দিন দিন এই সমস্যা আরও বৃদ্ধি পাচ্ছে। এর ফলে বন্যপ্রাণীর আবাসস্থল ধ্বংস হচ্ছে, জলবায়ু পরিবর্তনের প্রভাব তীব্রতর হচ্ছে এবং বন্যা ও ভূমিধসের মতো প্রাকৃতিক দুর্যোগের সংখ্যা বাড়ছে। অবিলম্বে কার্যকর ব্যবস্থা গ্রহণ না করলে ভবিষ্যতে পরিস্থিতি আরও ভয়াবহ হয়ে উঠতে পারে।
অতএব, কঠোর বন আইন কার্যকর করা, অবৈধ গাছ কাটা রোধ করা এবং ব্যাপক বনসৃজনের মাধ্যমে বননিধন প্রতিরোধে সরকারের পক্ষ থেকে কঠোর ও কার্যকর পদক্ষেপ গ্রহণ করা একান্ত প্রয়োজন। পাশাপাশি, আপনার সম্পাদকীয়ের মাধ্যমে জনসচেতনতা বৃদ্ধি করা উচিত, যাতে মানুষ বন সংরক্ষণের গুরুত্ব উপলব্ধি করতে পারে।
