Plastic Pollution and Its Threat

Kolkata, 12 December: Plastic pollution has become a major environmental issue globally, severely affecting oceans, rivers, and land while threatening biodiversity and climate. Due to human negligence, millions of plastic bottles, bags, and packaging materials are discarded into the environment daily. The main causes include excessive plastic use, improper disposal, and industrial pollution. Its effects are visible in polluted water bodies, increased marine animal deaths, and soil degradation. Experts warn that without immediate action, the situation will worsen. Governments and NGOs are promoting recycling, awareness programs, and strict regulations. Individuals are encouraged to reduce plastic use, recycle, and adopt responsible practices. Collective effort, including sustainable habits and public participation, is crucial to combat plastic pollution and ensure a cleaner, healthier environment for future generations.

কোলকাতা, ১২ ডিসেম্বর: প্লাস্টিক দূষণ বিশ্বব্যাপী একটি বড় পরিবেশগত সমস্যা হয়ে উঠেছে। এটি সমুদ্র, নদী এবং স্থলভাগকে মারাত্মকভাবে প্রভাবিত করছে এবং জীববৈচিত্র্য ও জলবায়ুকে হুমকির মধ্যে ফেলে দিচ্ছে। মানুষের অবহেলার কারণে প্রতিদিন লক্ষ লক্ষ প্লাস্টিকের বোতল, ব্যাগ এবং প্যাকেজিং উপকরণ পরিবেশে ফেলা হচ্ছে। মূল কারণগুলোর মধ্যে রয়েছে অতিরিক্ত প্লাস্টিক ব্যবহার, অনিয়মিত নিক্ষেপ এবং শিল্প দূষণ। এর প্রভাব দেখা যায়—জলাশয় দূষিত হওয়া, সামুদ্রিক প্রাণীর মৃত্যু বৃদ্ধি এবং মাটি ক্ষয়। বিশেষজ্ঞরা সতর্ক করেছেন যে, অবিলম্বে পদক্ষেপ না নিলে পরিস্থিতি আরও গুরুতর হবে। সরকার ও এনজিও পুনর্ব্যবহার, সচেতনতা কর্মসূচি এবং কঠোর নীতি প্রচার করছে। ব্যক্তিরাও কম ব্যবহার, পুনর্ব্যবহার এবং দায়িত্বশীল আচরণ গ্রহণ করে সাহায্য করতে পারে। সম্মিলিত প্রচেষ্টা পরিবেশ রক্ষা এবং সুস্থ ভবিষ্যত নিশ্চিত করতে অপরিহার্য।
