Summary
The Bet tells the story of a wealthy banker and a young lawyer who argue about whether the death penalty is better than life imprisonment. To prove his point, the banker bets two million that the lawyer cannot live in solitary confinement for fifteen years. The lawyer accepts the challenge.

During his imprisonment, the lawyer spends his time reading books and studying many subjects. Over the years, he gains great knowledge and undergoes a deep inner change. He realizes that wealth, pleasure, and worldly success are meaningless.
বন্দিত্বের সময় সে অনেক বই পড়ে এবং জ্ঞান অর্জন করে। ধীরে ধীরে তার মনে হয় যে ধন-সম্পদ ও পার্থিব সুখ আসলে মূল্যহীন।
On the final day, instead of claiming the money, the lawyer leaves the room early to prove his contempt for material wealth. The banker, who had planned to kill him to avoid paying, feels ashamed. The story highlights the emptiness of money and the value of wisdom and self-realization.
শেষ দিনে সে ইচ্ছাকৃতভাবে সময়ের আগে বেরিয়ে এসে টাকার অধিকার ত্যাগ করে। ব্যাঙ্কার, যে তাকে হত্যা করার পরিকল্পনা করেছিল, লজ্জিত হয়। গল্পটি দেখায় যে অর্থ নয়, জ্ঞান ও আত্মউপলব্ধিই জীবনের আসল মূল্য।
