Subject: Scarcity of drinking water
Sir/Madam,
Through the columns of your esteemed daily I would like to draw the kind attention of the authority concerned to the growing problem of scarcity of drinking water, which has become a serious matter of concern in recent times. Safe drinking water is essential for human survival, yet millions of people are facing acute shortage of this basic necessity.
The problem has been worsening day by day due to overexploitation of groundwater, rapid urbanisation, climate change, and lack of proper water management. As a result, people in both urban and rural areas are suffering from severe water crisis, especially during summer months. If immediate steps are not taken, the situation is likely to take a more serious turn in future.
It is high time for the government to take drastic and effective steps to tackle the scarcity of drinking water by promoting rainwater harvesting, conserving water resources, and preventing wastage of water. Moreover, public awareness should be aroused through your editorial so that people become conscious of their duties and responsibilities towards judicious use of water.

বিষয়: পানীয় জলের অভাব

আপনার সম্মানিত দৈনিক পত্রিকার কলামের মাধ্যমে পানীয় জলের অভাবের ক্রমবর্ধমান সমস্যার প্রতি সংশ্লিষ্ট কর্তৃপক্ষের দৃষ্টি আকর্ষণ করতে চাই, যা সাম্প্রতিক সময়ে একটি গুরুতর উদ্বেগের কারণ হয়ে দাঁড়িয়েছে। মানবজীবনের জন্য অপরিহার্য নিরাপদ পানীয় জল আজ বহু মানুষের কাছে অপ্রতুল হয়ে উঠছে।
ভূগর্ভস্থ জলের অতিরিক্ত ব্যবহার, দ্রুত নগরায়ণ, জলবায়ু পরিবর্তন এবং সঠিক জলব্যবস্থাপনার অভাবের কারণে দিন দিন এই সমস্যা আরও তীব্র হচ্ছে। এর ফলে শহর ও গ্রাম—উভয় ক্ষেত্রেই মানুষ বিশেষত গ্রীষ্মকালে তীব্র জলসংকটে ভুগছে। অবিলম্বে কার্যকর ব্যবস্থা গ্রহণ না করলে ভবিষ্যতে পরিস্থিতি আরও ভয়াবহ হয়ে উঠতে পারে।
অতএব, বৃষ্টির জল সংরক্ষণ, জলসম্পদ সংরক্ষণ এবং জলের অপচয় রোধের মাধ্যমে পানীয় জলের সংকট মোকাবিলায় সরকারের পক্ষ থেকে কঠোর ও কার্যকর পদক্ষেপ গ্রহণ করা একান্ত প্রয়োজন। পাশাপাশি, আপনার সম্পাদকীয়ের মাধ্যমে জনসচেতনতা বৃদ্ধি করা উচিত, যাতে মানুষ জলের সঠিক ব্যবহার সম্পর্কে নিজেদের কর্তব্য ও দায়িত্ব সম্পর্কে সচেতন হয়।
