Subject: Rising drug addiction among youth
Sir/Madam,
Through the columns of your esteemed daily I would like to draw the kind attention of the authority concerned to the alarming rise in drug addiction among the youth, which has become a serious matter of concern in recent times. The future of the nation is at stake as a large section of young people is falling prey to this social evil.
The problem has been worsening day by day due to easy availability of drugs, peer pressure, unemployment and lack of proper guidance. As a result, many young men and women are suffering from serious health problems and moral degradation. Drug addiction not only destroys individuals but also affects families and society at large. If immediate steps are not taken, the situation is likely to take a more serious turn in future.
It is high time for the government to take drastic and effective steps to control drug trafficking and provide proper rehabilitation facilities for addicts so that the situation can be brought under control. Moreover, public awareness should be aroused through your editorial so that people become conscious of their duties and responsibilities.

আপনার সম্মানিত দৈনিক পত্রিকার কলামের মাধ্যমে যুবসমাজের মধ্যে ক্রমবর্ধমান মাদকাসক্তির ভয়াবহ সমস্যার প্রতি সংশ্লিষ্ট কর্তৃপক্ষের দৃষ্টি আকর্ষণ করতে চাই। সাম্প্রতিক সময়ে এই সামাজিক ব্যাধি এক গুরুতর উদ্বেগের কারণ হয়ে দাঁড়িয়েছে এবং এর ফলে দেশের ভবিষ্যৎ মারাত্মকভাবে ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত হচ্ছে।
সহজলভ্য মাদকদ্রব্য, সহপাঠী ও বন্ধুমহলের কুপ্রভাব, বেকারত্ব এবং সঠিক দিকনির্দেশনার অভাবের কারণে দিন দিন এই সমস্যা বাড়ছে। এর ফলস্বরূপ বহু যুবক-যুবতী শারীরিক ও মানসিকভাবে বিপর্যস্ত হয়ে পড়ছে। মাদকাসক্তি শুধু ব্যক্তিজীবন ধ্বংস করে না, পরিবার ও সমাজকেও বিপথে ঠেলে দেয়। অবিলম্বে কার্যকর ব্যবস্থা গ্রহণ না করলে ভবিষ্যতে পরিস্থিতি আরও ভয়াবহ হয়ে উঠবে।
অতএব, মাদক পাচার রোধ এবং মাদকাসক্তদের জন্য উপযুক্ত পুনর্বাসন ব্যবস্থার লক্ষ্যে সরকারের পক্ষ থেকে কঠোর ও কার্যকর পদক্ষেপ গ্রহণ করা একান্ত প্রয়োজন। পাশাপাশি, আপনার সম্পাদকীয়ের মাধ্যমে জনসচেতনতা বৃদ্ধি করা উচিত, যাতে মানুষ নিজেদের কর্তব্য ও দায়িত্ব সম্পর্কে সচেতন হয়ে ওঠে।
