Subject: Dropout rate in schools
Sir/Madam,
Through the columns of your esteemed daily I would like to draw the kind attention of the authority concerned to the alarming problem of the increasing dropout rate in schools, which has become a serious matter of concern in recent times. Education is the foundation of a prosperous society, yet many children leave school before completing their basic education.
The problem has been worsening day by day due to poverty, child labour, lack of proper infrastructure, and inadequate support from families. As a result, these children are deprived of opportunities for personal and professional growth and may fall prey to social evils. If immediate steps are not taken, the situation is likely to take a more serious turn in future.
It is high time for the government to take drastic and effective steps to reduce the dropout rate by providing financial assistance, scholarships, improved school facilities, and counselling for students and parents. Moreover, public awareness should be aroused through your editorial so that families understand the importance of education and ensure that children continue their studies.

আপনার সম্মানিত দৈনিক পত্রিকার কলামের মাধ্যমে বিদ্যালয়ে পড়াশোনা ছাড়ার ক্রমবর্ধমান সমস্যার প্রতি সংশ্লিষ্ট কর্তৃপক্ষের দৃষ্টি আকর্ষণ করতে চাই, যা সাম্প্রতিক সময়ে একটি গুরুতর উদ্বেগের কারণ হয়ে দাঁড়িয়েছে। শিক্ষা একটি সমৃদ্ধ সমাজের ভিত্তি, তবুও বহু শিশু তাদের প্রাথমিক শিক্ষা শেষ না করে বিদ্যালয় ছাড়ছে।
দারিদ্র্য, শিশু শ্রম, যথাযথ অবকাঠামোর অভাব এবং পরিবারের পর্যাপ্ত সহায়তার অভাবের কারণে দিন দিন এই সমস্যা আরও বৃদ্ধি পাচ্ছে। এর ফলে এসব শিশু ব্যক্তিগত ও পেশাগত বিকাশের সুযোগ থেকে বঞ্চিত হচ্ছে এবং সমাজের অব্যবস্থার শিকার হতে পারে। অবিলম্বে কার্যকর ব্যবস্থা গ্রহণ না করলে ভবিষ্যতে পরিস্থিতি আরও গুরুতর হয়ে উঠতে পারে।
অতএব, আর্থিক সহায়তা, বৃত্তি, উন্নত স্কুল সুবিধা এবং শিক্ষার্থী ও অভিভাবকদের জন্য পরামর্শদান নিশ্চিত করার মাধ্যমে পড়াশোনা ছাড়ার হার কমাতে সরকারের পক্ষ থেকে কঠোর ও কার্যকর পদক্ষেপ গ্রহণ করা একান্ত প্রয়োজন। পাশাপাশি, আপনার সম্পাদকীয়ের মাধ্যমে জনসচেতনতা বৃদ্ধি করা উচিত, যাতে পরিবারগুলো শিক্ষার গুরুত্ব বুঝে শিশুদের পড়াশোনা চালিয়ে যেতে উৎসাহিত করে।
