They occur due to sudden movements of tectonic plates beneath the Earth’s surface. The effects include collapsed buildings, damaged roads and bridges, disruption of utilities, and injuries or fatalities among residents. Experts warn that densely populated areas with poor infrastructure are particularly vulnerable. Governments and NGOs are focusing on earthquake-resistant construction, early warning systems, and public awareness campaigns. Individuals are encouraged to follow safety measures, prepare emergency kits, and participate in drills. Collective efforts at personal, community, and governmental levels are essential to minimize damage. Through preparedness, timely response, and proper planning, the devastating impacts of earthquakes can be reduced, protecting lives, property, and ensuring faster recovery for affected communities.
