How ORS is Prepared
ORS is a solution to prevent dehydration; important for health recovery quickly. The preparation of ORS begins with ensuring clean hands, clean pots, teaspoons, tablespoons, and cups. One litre of boiled but cooled water is poured into a clean pot. Then, two tablespoonfuls of sugar or honey and one-fourth teaspoonful of ordinary salt are added. A few drops of orange or lemon juice are mixed in for flavour and nutrients. Next, one-fourth teaspoonful of sodium bicarbonate (commonly called edible soda) is added. All the ingredients are stirred well until completely dissolved. The Oral Rehydration Solution (ORS) is now ready. It helps replace lost body fluids and salts during dehydration or illness.
