Subject: Importance of value-based education
Sir/Madam,
Through the columns of your esteemed daily I would like to draw the kind attention of the authority concerned to the growing importance of value-based education, which has become a serious matter of concern in recent times. Education should not only impart academic knowledge but also nurture moral values and ethical principles among students.
The problem has been worsening day by day as excessive emphasis is laid only on marks, competition, and material success, while moral education is often neglected. As a result, social evils such as intolerance, dishonesty, and lack of empathy are increasing in society. If immediate steps are not taken, the situation is likely to take a more serious turn in future.
It is high time for the government and educational institutions to take drastic and effective steps to promote value-based education by including moral studies in the curriculum, encouraging character-building activities, and involving parents and teachers in this process. Moreover, public awareness should be aroused through your editorial so that people realise the true purpose of education.

আপনার সম্মানিত দৈনিক পত্রিকার কলামের মাধ্যমে মূল্যবোধভিত্তিক শিক্ষার ক্রমবর্ধমান গুরুত্বের প্রতি সংশ্লিষ্ট কর্তৃপক্ষের দৃষ্টি আকর্ষণ করতে চাই, যা সাম্প্রতিক সময়ে একটি গুরুতর উদ্বেগের কারণ হয়ে দাঁড়িয়েছে। শিক্ষা কেবল পাঠ্যজ্ঞান অর্জনের মধ্যেই সীমাবদ্ধ নয়; শিক্ষার মাধ্যমে নৈতিকতা, শিষ্টাচার ও মানবিক মূল্যবোধ গড়ে তোলা অত্যন্ত প্রয়োজন।
বর্তমানে কেবলমাত্র নম্বর, প্রতিযোগিতা ও ভৌতিক সাফল্যের উপর অতিরিক্ত গুরুত্ব দেওয়ার ফলে নৈতিক শিক্ষার অবহেলা লক্ষ্য করা যাচ্ছে। এর ফলস্বরূপ সমাজে অসহিষ্ণুতা, অসততা ও সহমর্মিতার অভাব ক্রমশ বৃদ্ধি পাচ্ছে। অবিলম্বে কার্যকর ব্যবস্থা গ্রহণ না করলে ভবিষ্যতে পরিস্থিতি আরও গুরুতর হয়ে উঠতে পারে।
অতএব, পাঠ্যক্রমে নৈতিক শিক্ষা অন্তর্ভুক্ত করা, চরিত্রগঠনমূলক কার্যক্রমের প্রসার এবং শিক্ষক-অভিভাবকদের সক্রিয় অংশগ্রহণ নিশ্চিত করার মাধ্যমে মূল্যবোধভিত্তিক শিক্ষা প্রসারে সরকার ও শিক্ষাপ্রতিষ্ঠানগুলির পক্ষ থেকে কঠোর ও কার্যকর পদক্ষেপ গ্রহণ করা একান্ত প্রয়োজন। পাশাপাশি, আপনার সম্পাদকীয়ের মাধ্যমে জনসচেতনতা বৃদ্ধি করা উচিত, যাতে মানুষ শিক্ষার প্রকৃত উদ্দেশ্য উপলব্ধি করতে পারে।
