Shubhanshu Shukla
Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla is an Indian Air Force officer, test pilot, and astronaut who became the first Indian to visit the International Space Station on Axiom Mission 4 (Ax-4). Born on October 10, 1985, in Lucknow, he was commissioned into the IAF in 2006 and has flown over 2,000 hours on fighters and transport aircraft such as the Su‑30 MKI, MiG‑21, MiG‑29, Jaguar, Hawk, Dornier, and An‑32. Selected in 2019 as one of four Gaganyaan astronauts, he trained in Russia’s Yuri Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center before serving as Ax‑4 pilot, conducting microgravity experiments and becoming the 634th human in space.
